Our bestseller is the Carbon Fiberreed, the black and white layered reed. The white layers for all our reeds are the trademark, synthetic hollow fibers that Harry Hartmann first started using to make Fiberreeds. These hollow fibers lend a nice cane-like buzz to the sound of the reed. For the Carbon model the white hollow fibers are layered with carbon fibers, adding a distinct bright edge to the sound which is especially nice when you need volume and clarity to play with amplified instruments. They still give you a fully saturated sub-tone when your down low and soft. In contrast to the Natural Fiberreed, the Carbon Fiberreed is richer in overtones resulting in a larger tone-spectrum. The lows are saturated, the highs are powerful and it is convincing in its presence.

The difference between the regular Carbon and the Carbon Classic is the same as between the regular Natural and the Natural Classic. The regular Carbon Fiberreed sounds lighter and brighter whereas the Carbon Classic is darker and smoother. The regular cuts are more free-blowing whereas the Classic cuts produce more resistance and a somewhat fuller tone due to their bigger heart before thinning out to the tip.
